Stratos Global Corporation has become a distributor for SkyWave Mobile Communications products and services for the global SCADA market.

Startos provides solutions for remote communications using mobile and fixed satellite and microwave services. SkyWave provides Immarsat-based satellite data communication equipment used for M2M applications.

 

Stratos (News - Alert) is well-established provider of Satellite-based Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition services to the energy and utility industries in North America where it has deployed more than 10,000 sites. It will be able to offer a wide range of SCADA products to the energy and utility industries and also to several other markets as a distributor of SkyWave products and services. Customers will be able to monitor and exercise control on their assets located anywhere on the globe with the use of SCADA products. Field services and transportation industries are part of the new markets that can be addressed.

Head, senior vice president, Broadband Services at Strato stated that the customers have used round the clock monitoring of their assets to help them in maintenance scheduling to reduce production costs and also in disaster prevention. Now they will be able to offer new SCADA services with their association with SkyWave to provide energy efficiency, improved portability with cost efficiency for global customers.

 

According to Alain Nicolle, director of sales, North America for SkyWave, this association with Stratos as a solution provider can provide market expansion for their products. A wide variety of users will be able to benefit from their product line.

 

A full range of value-added services to meet the needs of the individual customers are offered by Stratos. Round the clock customer support provided by SCADA trained technicians, automatic information compression, web browsing, shore side internet access and proactive notification are some of these services.
