New business models and significant revenue streams across a variety of industries are already driven by connected products such as e-readers, security devices, utility meters, and patient health monitors. Shipments of these 'intelligent devices' will grow to 430 million in 2013 with total device revenues exceeding $12 billion, as predicted by Harbor Research.

Companies will be able to quickly take advantage of these market opportunities with the Axeda Developer Connection. Developers will be taught to build M2M applications by accessing technical articles, sample applications, tutorials, product documentation, community forums, videos and partner information with the Axeda Developer Connection. Free, 60-day Axeda Platform access will also be given.

In a release, Geoff Martin, manager, service delivery, Sprint (News - Alert) emerging solutions group said, 'The Axeda Developer Connection is one of the most complete developer sites in the connected device segment. Significant time and thought went into the layout and resources available to both new and experienced developers in the space.'

Due to technical complexity and prohibitive start-up costs, connected product applications have been difficult to build. With Axeda's enterprise-class platform available as a free trial, developers can focus only on applications.

Nathan George, director, technology, Walsh Wireless said the company is impressed by the depth of content in the Axeda Developer Connection Site. The company's technical teams can immediately start building solutions on the Axeda Platform.

The Axeda Platform is relied upon by nearly 150 major organizations, including Abbott, EMC (News - Alert), Diebold, and NetApp. The Axeda Platform provides condition monitoring, content management, location-based services, business rules, secure communication, and enterprise system integration

In a release, Dale Calder (News - Alert), president and CEO, Axeda said, 'If you can dream it, you can build it on our platform. We don't want to be experts in every vertical market - we want to be the hub where developers come to create game-changing connected products. The Axeda Developer Connection makes it easy for developers to do this.'
