According to Sierra, their AirPrime XM0110 GPS module is an easy-to-use GPS solution, designed to offer the most optimized GPS feature integration for wireless applications using Sierra Wireless (News - Alert) AirPrime Intelligent Embedded Modules.

Featuring integrated SiRFstarIV GPS technology from CSR, the AirPrime XM0110 lowers the total cost of GSM/GPS application and enables faster time-to-market. Sierra Wireless' s products have achieved robust and reliable GPS co-ordinates without compromising battery life with the assistance of SiRFstarIV GSD4t receiver.

The SiRFstarIV platform with SiRFaware GPS technology can optimize mobile phones, mobile computers, and mobile internet devices for location enabled services. Extremely low power consumption and fast location allows a broad range of location enabled services without compromising battery life or dependence on a network.

Senior Vice President of Marketing for Sierra Wireless, Didier Dutronc has stated that their partnership with CSR (News - Alert) on AirPrime XM0110 GPS has enabled them to create a solution with which customers can quickly and cost-effectively integrate GPS and GSM into tracking applications. The SiRFstarIV architecture' s credibility and capability has provided their AirPrime customers with robust, best-in-class, continuous location awareness.

CSR has asserted that their SiRFstarIV architecture has integrated a high-performance GPS location engine, smart location sensor interface and an adaptive micro-power manager to deliver enhanced sensitivity, reduced time-to-fix and improved positional accuracy. The GSD4t receiver offers a fast location fix at signal levels as low as -160dBm independent of the wireless network used or without any network at all.

GSD4t has completely eliminated the need to turn off the GPS receiver to conserve power, unlocking new use cases for location awareness, such as geo-tagging, location-enabled games, and LBS applications.

Sales Manager for CSR Europe, Dipak Raval added that they are anticipating Sierra Wireless to bring AirPrime XM0110 GPS to their core customers in markets such as fleet management. Asset tracking and automotive applications has proved to be a growing factor and the adoption of SiRFstarIV by Sierra Wireless creates opportunities for CSR as well.
