Mobile Surroundings Unveils 'It Happened Here' App for Washington, D.C.


Mobile Surroundings LLC announced the availability of its iPhone (News - Alert) app, It Happened Here- Washington, D.C. Edition. The app is now available for iPhone and iPod Touch users from the iPhone App Store.

According to Mobile Surroundings sources the It Happened Here app detects a user's location and also reveals interesting facts about happenings in that particular location or nearby.
Users will receive photos and brief, "mobile consumable" original summaries of these events in such categories as History, Politics, Crime & Scandal and Pop Culture along with links to Web sites for those who are interested in learning more.
Besides the It Happened Here app is interactive and dynamic as it allows users to not only submit events for editorial review, but also share what's interesting about where they are via Facebook (News - Alert) and Twitter.
The It Happened Here app is expected to enrich trips made by users to Washington, D.C. as it provides interesting information by taking into context a user's location and providing details on Washington's rich history. Several events are featured in the app including the places where Deep Throat held secret 2 a.m. meetings with journalists about Watergate and where John Wilkes Booth hid after assassinating Abraham Lincoln.
Some other events include the place where John F. Kennedy proposed to Jacqueline Bouvier over dinner and where Tom Cruise hit softballs in front of Demi Moore in the movie A Few Good Men and where Former DC Mayor Marion Barry was arrested in an FBI sting operation, said company sources.
