Cinterion Wireless Modules Now Part of ERTICO


Cinterion Wireless Modules, supplier of cellular machine-to-machine (M2M) communication modules, has announced its membership in ERTICO – ITS Europe, Europe's Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) professional organization.

A pioneer organization and M2M industry innovator, Cinterion (News - Alert) offers ERTICO and its partner’s expertise in designing and manufacturing communication modules specifically for the automotive and ITS sector.

Comprising of 100 European ITS stakeholders including public officials, transportation industry enterprises, automobile manufacturers, infrastructure operators, technology companies and other enterprises, ERTICO focuses on collaborative research, defining industry standards and creating sustainable solutions for safer, smarter and more efficient transport solutions.

ERTICO is also involved in multi-sector partnerships to advance ITS innovation and advises and informs policy makers.

Marcel Visser, vice president, Cinterion Wireless (News - Alert) Modules, Automotive said that Cinterion has been designing innovative wireless modules for the automotive, telematics and intelligent road industry for 15 years and that they were happy to join with other industry leaders to plan for safer, more effective roadways and travel.

Remarking on their membership with ERTICO, he said that Cinterion is committed to supporting the latest policy developments such as the ITS Action Plan adopted by the European parliament, eTolling and eCall, all of which contribute to increased road and driver safety and reduced consumption of fuel and overall CO2 output.

Hermann Mayer, CEO, ERTICO explained that transport needs to be safer, more environmentally friendly and that wireless networks and M2M technologies are in a position to provide effective M2M and telematics solutions.

He added that they were fortunate to have Cinterion as an active partner in their initiatives and that they were looking forward to working together to extend the reach of intelligent wireless technology to improve transport systems.

In April 2010, Cinterion Wireless Modules formed partnership with Assembly Contracts.
