Recently, Cinterion Wireless (News - Alert) Modules, a provider of cellular machine-to-machine (M2M) communication modules, announced its membership in ERTICO – ITS Europe, Europe's Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) professional organization.
Cinterion’s membership in ERTICO brings to the organization and its partners a wealth of expertise and 15 years experience designing and manufacturing communication modules specifically for the automotive and ITS sector.
ERTICO is comprised of 100 European ITS stakeholders including public officials, transportation industry enterprises, automobile manufacturers, infrastructure operators, technology companies and other enterprises.
It is devoted to collaborative research, defining industry standards and creating sustainable solutions for safer, smarter and more efficient transport solutions. Apart form it, ERTICO facilitates multi-sector partnerships to advance ITS innovation and advises and informs policy makers.
Marcel Visser, vice president, Cinterion Wireless Modules, Automotive commented that the company has been designing innovative wireless modules for the automotive, telematics and intelligent road industry for 15 years and the company is excited to join with other industry leaders to chart the course ahead to safer, more effective roadways and travel.
Further he added that as a member of ERTICO, Cinterion is committed to supporting the latest policy developments such as the ITS Action Plan adopted by the European parliament, eTolling and eCall, all of which contribute to increased road and driver safety and reduced consumption of fuel and overall CO2 output.
