EarthSearch Offers New Handheld Reader for Asset Management


Recent technological advances have motivated large-scale deployment of RFID systems in enterprises and it seems that the day is not far away when RFID tags are poised to supplant barcodes. RFID systems are capable to store more information as well as it has ability to transfer information through contactless means. However, cost and privacy issues are major concern to its widespread use.

Recently, East Coast Diversified Corporation's RFID and GPS division, EarthSearch Communications, has launched its new product: LogiBoxx Certified Handheld RFID Reader ES3001H with integrated GPS technology that is capable of wireless communication via UHF, WiFi (News - Alert), Bluetooth, and GPRS.

This small device runs on the latest mobile operating system, Windows CE 5.0, and utilizes EarthSearch's proprietary firmware. The handheld reader has many advantages such as low power consumption, a large and clear screen, and an optional camera for recording visual information about assets. LogiBoxx Certified Handheld RFID Reader ES3001H can be connected to a PDA or PC to upgrade software and to customize its built-in features and has an ergonomic design to provide comfort to the user.

Considering the type of RFID tag (News - Alert), LogiBoxx Certified Handheld RFID Reader ES3001H can identify tagged items up to 15 feet, and is also capable of reading 1D and 2D barcodes. LogiBoxx Certified Handheld RFID Reader ES3001H is typically used in shipping, inventory control, and asset management. It is useful device for the business in supply chain industry. It will help the user to track goods in the supply process, using it for mobile inventory taking, price checking, and storage rack adjustments.

EarthSearch CEO Kayode Aladesuyi said that this new handheld reader is the perfect tool for asset management and it is it capable of reading both RFID tags and barcodes. He stated that the LogiBoxx Certified Handheld RFID Reader ES3001H is also able to communicate wirelessly on several different frequencies, including UHF, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPRS. Additional applications for LogiBoxx Certified Handheld RFID Reader ES3001H include the detection of counterfeit product, where write protection for memory in the tag allows it to distinguish between true and false goods.
