Mobile Data Corp., a provider of solutions for telecommunications and computer convergence, announced that its MDC Tracker Version 1.05 has been tested and is now compatible with more Research In Motion's “RIM” BlackBerry (News - Alert) SmartPhones including 9630 Tour 5.0, 9670 Flip 3G 6.0.0, and 9800 Slider 3G 6.0.0.
The company’s MDC-Tracker transforms any GPS enabled BlackBerry smartphone into a versatile GPS data acquisition device with both local storage and real time data streaming capabilities. The application that starts at bootup, runs continuously in the background recording GPS data in a compressed format. This eliminates the need for users to manually start the application.
With the help of MDC Tracker, users will be able to maintain annual travel logs and will also have the ability to stream GPS location data to third party remote servers using standard TCP protocol.
Available for download directly from the Company's website, www.mobiledatacorp.com, the MDC-Tracker application is GPX 1.1 complaint and uses a light-weight XML data format for the storage and interchange of GPS data, such as routes, tracks and waypoints, between clients and Internet TCP Web services.
Some of the user options provided to MDC Tracker application includes user specified GPS routes, tracks and waypoints, data caching, data upload frequency, raw or compressed data, UNIX, GMT or Local Time, standard or metric measurements, and more.
The MDC-Tracker application provides users with a historical archive of global positioning coordinates over any given period of time. Consequently, users can know the history of where a BlackBerry SmartPhone has been at various points during the day, week, month or any other prescribed time frame.
According to Mobile Data Corp., the MDC-Tracker technology has been designed to augment the underlying base services provided by the Smartphone manufacturer and software application programming interfaces “APIs” that have been developed to allow third party developers to rapidly deploy many types of location based services in both Internet and standalone modes.
Some of the Research In Motion's “RIM” BlackBerry SmartPhones compatible with MDC-Tracker include 8800 (Huron)4.5.0, 8820 (Huron)4.5.0, 7130e 4.2.1, 8703e 4.2.1, 9800 Slider 3G 6.0.0, and more.
MDC anticipates that MDC-Tracker application and future products will be available at the BlackBerry App World, subject to final approval by RIM.
