InSync's iApp Builder has been selected by Gates Corporation, one of the world's premier manufacturers of industrial and automotive products, systems and components, to build and run an Asset Monitoring Application.
To collect data that can be used to enhance operational efficiencies and assure product integrity and availability, the M2M, web-based application, hosted by InSync, leverages RFID, handhelds and sensors.
The application is considered an integral part of Gates' continued efforts to innovate and lead in the industrial and automotive products market and demonstrates its continued commitment to ensuring optimal product integrity in the field, and replacement availability for customers worldwide.
InSync has been chosen by Gates for this application, because of iApp Builder's ability to rapidly build and run a comprehensive, machine-to-machine solution that includes device-to-dashboard application capabilities within the four walls and beyond via mobile devices and multiple sensors.
In coordination with Gates, the application was built by InSync, using InSync's award-winning iApp Builder. The flexibility of delivering and running the application through a hosted model has been offered by InSync to Gates. This has helped Gates to minimize infrastructure investment and installation overhead.
"Gates selected InSync Software after a highly competitive evaluation and the conclusion of a successful pilot that demonstrated the ability to meet the complex needs of our environment," Joel Edwards, VP, Gates Fluid Power Product Development, said. "In addition to meeting our technical requirements, InSync was one of the only providers that could fully outsource the hosting, delivery and management of the application, ultimately saving us time and capital."
To provide a truly enterprise-class application that would quickly and painlessly connect multiple locations, devices and trading partners throughout Gates' business system, has been a crucial aspect of the application.
iApp Builder, with its multi-tenancy features and utilities provide this capability for Gates, enabling operators to easily communicate with existing sensor infrastructure, connect partners, set up permissions, commission applications, and share specified data and visibility based on need, instance and authorization.
By utilizing iApp Builder's mobile application toolset, development and subsequent deployment of the mobile side of the application across multiple, disparate devices and locations are also made easy.
The developers, with the help of toolset, iApp Mobile, are provided with the ability to instantly distribute/commission applications and business logic to handhelds across multiple locations as well as run remote diagnostics, control devices, monitor and provide tech support, all via the Web.
"We are excited to be working with Gates on this innovative project to improve product and process visibility," Ashish Chona, InSync CEO, says. "Our iApp Builder provides Gates with a very flexible environment to quickly build and run a comprehensive application that functions within the four walls, beyond and everywhere in-between."
In related news, RFID Invest AG, an investment firm focused specifically on RFID technology, has successfully acquired InSync Software, a provider of RFID and sensor-driven application software.
